About the Therapy

One of the most stressful things, we as parents can go through, is having a child or teenager who is feeling psychological unwell, struggling with issues such as low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, self-harm, or even more serious problems. When a child is suffering, so is the whole family, and at SOOL our approach is to help the whole family to thrive. Ms. Holmberg has long experience helping children,  adolescents, and their families overcoming obstacles and will partner with you, your child and your family to help. The following procedure is what you can expect, when contacting SOOL Psychology for help with your child's complaints: After your initial contact with SOOL Psychology, an intake meeting with you and the other parent/caregiver (if applicable) will be arranged. During this meeting, you will be able to air your worries and your view on what your son's or daughter's main problems are. During this meeting, Ms. Holmberg will discuss the suggested course of treatment, as it is important that you as parents/caregivers understand and agree with those suggestions in order give the therapy the best basis for being successful. Sometimes, Ms. Holmberg will suggest cooperation with a psychiatrist (in cases when medication also is needed), and in addition to the psychological counseling. After this initial meeting, an intake meeting with your son/daughter is scheduled. During this meeting, the parents are present as well, but the focus is solely on the child/adolescent and his/her questions. If your son or daughter also feels happy and safe working with Ms. Holmberg, weekly therapy sessions are scheduled. In addition, monthly parental sessions are in most cases scheduled, as working with both the child as well as his/her parents have proven to be the most sufficient and best way for ensuring long-lasting positive results of the therapy.
